I guess you could say I am an exercise enthusiast. I’ve always been active and have tried many different types of exercise programs. I am pretty disciplined and self motivated and working out has always just been something I did until I went through about a two year stretch of time where life was busy and work was stressful and I just couldn’t get myself motivated. I didn’t like the way that I felt or looked and a friend had been asking me for some time to come with her to workout with Jim so I finally did. That was my introduction to Cross Fit a little over one year ago.

I like Cross Fit better than any other type of exercise I’ve ever done for many different reasons. It’s the most effective program I’ve ever followed. I like the way it makes me look and feel.  At first I had trouble doing certain things because of past injuries but as I get stronger, those areas bother me less and less and I am able to do more and more. Every class is different. It’s challenging and fun. Jim is a great motivator. He pushes me when I don’t want to push myself but he does it in a way that motivates. He is never discouraging. I started Cross Fit because I was out of shape and not happy with the way I was looking and feeling. I continue to train with Jim at Gulf Shores Cross Fit because it is a great stress reliever, it’s fun and it works!

robinsSince starting cross fit training with Jim Barton I feel stronger, healthier…better about myself! I have always lived an active lifestyle, but have had issues with minor injuries during some of my training, and difficulty in actually losing any weight. That all changed when I started to train with Jim! He is very detail oriented, and we never start a new exercise before learning and displaying the proper form. This might drive some people nuts, but I’m so thankful or this aspect of Jim’s training, because we all know that injuries just mean set backs. I have also lost that last dreaded 10 pounds that never wanted to come off with other training.

I am about to turn 40 at the end of this month, and I feel I am probably in the best shape I have ever been in, all thanks to my cross-fit training with Jim! Jim asked me once what my fitness goal is, and I told him I wasn’t really sure, but I would have to say, my goal is to keep going, to keep pushing! To strive to be the healthiest me that I can be!

In short, if you feel poorly about your body, or your health in general, I would encourage you to give cross-fit a try. It will give you a whole new outlook on your body image, on what kind of food (or fuel cross-fitters like to call it) you put in your mouth, and have more energy!! Who wouldn’t want that?? What are you waiting for?!

katyrI began working out with Jim Barton in January, 2013. I was beginning to experience some health issues and decided to start a program in hopes of lowering my weight and subsequently my blood pressure as well as lessen the stress on my knees. In the time I have been training with Jim, I have lost 30 pounds and my blood pressure has returned to the normal range. I have much more energy, my joints are less painful and I have only 10 pounds remaining until I will be at my healthy goal weight. I am extremely happy with the results I have achieved training with Jim. My husband and kids now train with us as well and all are building strength and endurance. I recommend Jim to friends frequently for training and nutrition guidance.
