Just Getting Started?

Regardless of a person’s past athletic experience or current level of fitness, everyone who first comes to Gulf Shores CrossFit is provided the opportunity to learn about basic techniques, terminology, pre-workout warm ups and exercises before participating in regular Gulf Shores CrossFit classes.

We offer a Foundation Class Series one-time per month for all new to CrossFit members. All new members must attend this 4 class series to learn the basic CrossFit movements. Once you finish the 4 class series, you are welcome to join our group classes.

Our group classes are kept to small sizes to ensure one-on-one attention. As you work through your initial sessions you and your fellow newcomers will learn about the correct form for basic, functional CrossFit movements, and slowly work up to increase your level of intensity. GSCF is the perfect place to ask questions and make some new friends.

If you are already familiar with CrossFit methodologies and have trained in another certified location, come on and train hard with us.
At its core, the CrossFit business is about the individual client who shows up at the gym hoping to improve her fitness, whether she’s a triathlete stuck in a training rut, a retired accountant or a 38-year-old mother of three looking for the energy to recover from a cancer diagnosis and double-mastectomy.

The very first thing you will discover is that CrossFit does not discriminate. Whether you are 50 years old, or have just completed your 50th marathon, are recovering from injury or healing a broken heart, whether walking the dog is the only exercise you’ve had in years, or you’re someone training for the Iditarod…CrossFit will help you achieve your fitness goals.

One of the things that makes CrossFit so unique is our community of people from literally every walk of life: stay-at-home parents, elite athletes, students, CEOs, members of the armed services, firefighters, you name it. CrossFit bodies – our bodies – come in every imaginable size, shape and age; and yet, our workouts every day, are designed for anyone to do them.

Yes, anyone.

“Scalability” is a word that you will hear frequently here at Gulf Shores CrossFit. During each class, everyone does the same workout, but that workout will always have several scaling options. This makes it possible for all of us – with our different body types, personal goals and levels of ability – to work alongside one another safely. We motivate one another, cheer one another on, and sometimes participate in some healthy competition. But, ultimately, every workout is yours alone. Your workout = your pace.

{p.s. We refer to workouts as WODs – “workouts of the day” – because, well, acronyms are fun!}

All new members of our Box must attend a Foundation Class Series. We offer this class 1x/month outside of regular class times. The Foundation Class is a series of 6 workouts to learn the fundamentals of CrossFit. The class size is kept small and the coach will teach the fundamental exercises of CrossFit. Once you have attended all 6 classes, you are welcome to choose whichever WOD time fits your schedule the best and you start training with our community of CrossFitters.

CrossFit is the principal strength and conditioning program for many police academies and tactical operations teams, military special operations units, champion martial artists, and hundreds of other elite and professional athletes worldwide.

Our program delivers a fitness that is, by design, broad, general, and inclusive. Our specialty is not specializing. Combat, survival, many sports, and life reward this kind of fitness and, on average, punish the specialist.

The CrossFit program is designed for universal scalability making it the perfect application for any committed individual regardless of experience. We’ve used routines for elderly individuals with heart disease and cage fighters one month out from televised bouts. We scale load and intensity.
